Stephen Hawking's Pro Wheelchairing

It may not have the best graphics; it may not include MP3 tracks or complex levels, and it certainly doesn't make the best use of Dolby Surround Sound.  But when it comes to original and funny game ideas--the focus of this particular contest--Stephen Hawking's Pro Wheelchairing quickly rose to the top.  You play Stephen Hawking (not to be confused with the famous Professor Stephen Hawking, according to the author), a balding daredevil who likes to strut his stuff at the local skate park.  Much of the game's value wasn't apparent at first, as judges were heard to make comments like "What is that?" and "How do you work this thing?"  But once the judges got the hang of the controls, they discovered wild halfpipes, unexpected teleports, and three hilarious ways to die.  Despite its simplicity and the lack of any apparent goal besides simply amassing points, the idea was very comical and just plain fun to play.  Stephen Hawking's Pro Wheelchairing got a total of 642 points, earning Alasdair Forsythe 1st place in the GML Design Contest 2003.
